www.dailyreckoning.com: Investing in Water: The Biggest Resource Crisis of the 21st Century

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- "Countries across the world,
including the U.S., will be spending trillions of dollars over the next 25
years fixing water management problems," said investment advisor Chris
Mayer today, "and opportunities to invest in these issues are happening
now."

The World Water Council recently estimated that each year, $180 billion
would be needed to remedy the world's water problems over the next 25
years. Emerging countries such as India and China are already experiencing
water mismanagement's devastating effects: experts estimate that half of
the world's hospital beds are currently inhabited by patients suffering
from a water related illness.

The U.S., according to Mayer, the editor of the financial advisory
newsletter Mayer's Special Situations, is also on the verge of its own
water crisis. "Water is severely mismanaged in the U.S.," said Mayer, "and
the consensus seems to be that it is not a matter of if the U.S. will have
to invest in this problem, but when." In an "Infrastructure Report Card"
issued earlier this year, the American Society of Civil Engineers claimed
the U.S. would need "nearly $1 trillion dollars in critical drinking water
and wastewater investments over the next two decades."

In a presentation today at The Agora Financial Commodities and Traders
Seminar in Las Vegas, Mayer discussed the global water crisis and its
impact on the U.S. stock market. "This issue is gathering more main-stream
attention every day," said Mayer. "Well known private equity investors such
as the Carlyle Group, J.P. Morgan, and Goldman Sachs have been quietly
buying up little known water infrastructure companies."

"There is a really strong case for this issue," said Mayer. "Emerging
nations notorious for understating problems are addressing their water
crisis with alarmist diction," he said, "and big league funds in the U.S.
have already begun placing their bets." Mayer, whose newsletters focus on
finding lesser-known companies on the verge of experiencing significant
gains, recommended several stocks today to the crowded seminar.

A former corporate-banking guru turned financial author, Chris Mayer is
considered one of the nation's premier up-and-coming investment advisors.
He has been featured as an expert on globally syndicated networks such as
FOX News and CNBC, and his opinions have been quoted by some of the
investment industry's most respected publications. Mayer is a contributing
editor to The Daily Reckoning and editor of two acclaimed financial
advisory newsletters: Capital & Crisis and Mayer's Special Situations.
